Looking for Rule engine with nice GUI

Posted by Anonymous User at 2004-04-16 10:40 AM

Hi,

I understand that most of the intellectual work goes into the algorithms of the named rules engine. However, I miss with all of the open-source projects a nice ideally web-based GUI to define and modify rules for the non-technical user. ILog or Blaze, as very expensive commercial products have such an interface and that's from my perspective the reason they are so successful.

So, any hints to open-source projects with a lovely GUI are appreciated. Thanks.

Rules management - critical issue

Posted by Anonymous User at 2004-05-20 01:03 PM

There are very few Rules Management sytems out there in the market either commercial or open-source. The top ones (commercial) are Blaze and ILog, though there are others too like Pega, Yasutech, Hailey, but I am not sure about them since I have worked primarily on the first two. In the open-source space the only when I think which offers anything close to a Rules management system is "mandarax".

This is a critical area which is still open and unanswered. I have worked on business rules engine since last 4 years and rules management is one of the major contributors to the success and failure of any project using a business rules apparoach to application development.

Thanks.

I haven't used it, nor even seen it, but Kalstride offers a GUI for the Drools engine.

The Internet Business Logic system at www.reengineeringllc.com has a browser based GUI.

It's free for experimental and non-commercial use.

The Open Lexicon project, which went live recently, has a Web UI front end for managing a repository of business rules. Check it out here: http://openlexicon.org
