Open Source Manageability For My Sony Ericsson T610 Phone

A week ago I purchased a Sony-Ericsson T610 mobile phone for zero dollars, got a free Bluetooth Jabra earset to boot. Anyway, I planned on playing around with its Bluetooth features, so I got a USB bluetooth adapter to get painless sychronization with my PC.

Unfortunately, the Windows application that came with the phone only extracts data out of MS Outlook and I guess you have to pay extra for other environments. Well what a stroke of luck, Wendong blogs that there's an open source application that does this called "floAt Mobile Agent". Here's the description of the project:

FMA is a powerful phone editing tool allowing users to easily manage all of the personal data stored in their phones, via a number of different connections methods. FMA allows easy management of Phonebook (both SIM and Phone memory), SMS, Profiles, and Files stored on the phone. FMA can also allow you to pickup and dial calls directly from your PC.

Only downside is that it's based on Delphi/Kylix, but I'll take that any day over .NET!

Don't know really know why it works, but the application works with my bluetooth connectivity without any hiccups. Call me ignorant, but I'm simply amazed!
