Java Jobs Statistics and Trends

As a way of keeping tabs on this miserable economy I've made it a habit to do a search for java jobs over a 7 day period at Monster.com. Sometime in the middle of the year the number of jobs have hovered a little above 600 jobs, however in recent weeks I've seen an upsurge in job growth, and finally it has now broken past 1,000 jobs in the last 7 days. If this keeps up, it'll just be like the good 'ol days for us Java folks.
Regarding, C# based jobs, I did the same, admittedly I've seen some growth, it's moved from the low 100's to the high 100's over the past year that I've been doing this. Although it's made steady but slow progress, I have not seen any evidence of any major growth in the past few months. It still hasn't broken past the 200 level, furthermore a majority of the jobs seem to concentrate around Seattle. I wonder why? If this keeps up, we'll see a glut of .NET programmers, all refugees from the disenfranchised VB world.
The hotjobs job board is a bit more suspect in reporting its numbers. Hotjobs reveals 692 jobs with the word "java" in it in the past 24 hours. That's looks like a highly dubious number, however, maybe Hotjobs has more classifieds than Monster. Nevertheless, both job boards do indicate that the ratio of java to C# jobs hovers around 5 to 1 with Monster and 7 to 1 with HotJobs. What about VB.NET jobs? Well you can do the search yourself and it isn't a pretty sight.
