Java and SugarCRM don't Mix

I'm a bit confused about all these announcements for SugarCRM coming from Java oriented sources. For example, I find this on java.net and this from Erik Thauvin's link blog. SugarCRM is a LAMP based application, it's all discussed in this Sugar CRM Architecture.
Unfortunately the sourceforge.net summary page for SugarCRM shows that it uses Java. Well I couldn't find any Java in the source, maybe Javascript but clearly no .java files. Now, I could be completely mistaken, but the SugarCRM folks need to point out explicitly where Java fits in their architecture. Proclaiming "J2EE integration via Web Services" doesn't make the mark. It's inaccurate at best and deliberately misleading at worse.
Maybe they're just trying to muddy the waters by hiding the fact that there are other Java based open source CRM applications out there. If they want to ride Java's coatails to penetrate the enterprise market they should do it the "right" way. Just like many of the other projects out there. Here are a few interesting ones worth a second look:
- Hipergate - Intranet CRM, sales automation, customer service, email marketing, content management, bug tracker, project manager, groupware, calendar, forums, file sharing, directory. Based on Java /JSP for PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server.
- OFBiz - The Open For Business Project is an open source enterprise automation software project licensed under the MIT Open Source License. By open source enterprise automation we mean: Open Source ERP, Open Source CRM, Open Source E-Business / E-Commerce, Open Source SCM, Open Source MRP, Open Source CMMS/EAM, and so on.
- Ohioedge - Ohioedge CRM Server is an online CRM application designed for $2-500M organizations requiring centralized, multi-functional, enterprise-wide coordination of sales generation (contact management) & fulfillment (business process/workflow management) activities.
- Compiere - Smart ERP+CRM solution for Small-Medium Enterprises in the global marketplace covering all areas from customer management, supply chain and accounting. For $2-200M revenue companies looking for "brick and click" first tier functionality..
- CentricCRM - Centric CRM is a mature, fully featured, Java-based, Web-delivered CRM with contacts, pipeline, accounts, and campaign management, project management, help desk, and admin modules.
- CentraView - CentraView delivers an ideal combination of browser based Contact Management, Salesforce Automation (SFA), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) functionality to help your business succeed.
Of course, don't know what's worse, inaccurate representation of Java or misrepresentation of Open Source.
