Just to correct your ignorance, GPL is not equal to open source.

Here's one library that's innovative: "drools" an object oriented Rete engine. Now judging from the ignorance of your original post, you wouldn't have a clue to why it's innovative.

If you need to see more, just look up "101 Reasons why java is better...". See search at the upper right corner.

... in the world should I read to that 101 reasons? I love software dev technology, whether it´s named java or .net. Open your head a little (isn´t curiosity for new things a nice feeling we can have? it´s the stimulation of the mind!), otherwise you´ll end up grabbed to one technology that is not more than ONE way of doing things.
