Fallacies of a Perfect Computing World

Just thought that I should make up a list similar in spirit to Perter Deutsch's "The Eight Fallacies of Distributed Computing".

Well here goes:

  1. You can trust everyone, even yourself
  2. Universal agreement is possible
  3. Time doesn't exist
  4. Change can be avoided
  5. Side-effects and non-linearities should be removed
  6. Systems can be proved to be correct
  7. Everyone can respond immediately
  8. Implementation details can be hidden
  9. A perfect model of the real world can be created
  10. Concurrency can be abstracted away
I'll try to fill in the details later. However, if you're curious enough, you can find many of the explanations sprinkled around this blog. Just use the search feature.

It's my first cut at the list however if you've got a good idea worth adding, then please let me know.
