Isn't It a Bit Too Early for Eclipse Vendor Consolidation?

I'm a bit late on this news, but it looks like Instantiations has recently acquired a vendor of swt design tools. I recall a fellow blogger mulling over the idea just a year ago. I'm pretty sure Jeff is kicking himself for procrastinating for so long!
Same thing is happening also at MyEclipseIDE, they've been gobbling up other little players, with the intent of rolling up an even more comprehensive offering.
I've got to ask, isn't it a bit too early for consolidation? Or is this space just too hot that any bit player can make a dangerous impact? My take, this looks more like the Oklahoma Land Rush (see visual) .
[UPDATE] The morning after I wrote this, I find that Eclipse releases its "Visual Editor". project. Check out the demo to get a good feel of its capabilities. Extremely impressive! Does this now open the door for a whole new class of visual editors for Eclipse?
