Surprise! Creator of Minix is the VoteMaster!

Recently, I've been an avid reader of Electoral Vote Predictor. For the past several months its been tallying up the results of different polls of the 2004 Presidential election. The author maps the results into an electoral map that provides a good glimpse at the possible result of the election.

To my big surprise, the author of the site, he calls himself the votemaster is no other that Andrew Tanenbaum. For the uninitiated, Tanenbaum is the author of the Minix operating system, a precursor and the inspiration behind Linus Torvald's Linux.

Interesting how an Computer Science geek like him has this penchant for politics. He writes in his piece that reveals his identity:

In a nutshell, because living abroad I know first hand what the world thinks of America and it is not a pretty picture at the moment. I want people to think of America as the land of freedom and democracy, not the land of arrogance and blind revenge. I want to be proud of America again.
