And if you ever took a look at Slime for EMACS you'll notice that surely you don't need eclipse to have a reflective environment with autocompletion and the likes.
Oh, and I'll never ever ever mention the SmallTalk ides.

This article is over a year old, and the article it references is almost two years old. So when you bring up Slime then its more about playing catch up.
If you don't believe Eclpse is a evolutionary jump in coding productivity then so be it. The Omish are pretty content living in the 1700s.
